Eddie Adamski Named to Rimington Trophy Watch List
May 20, 2009
DEKALB, Ill.- Northern Illinois University's Eddie Adamski (Kildeer, Ill./Carmel) is one of 44 centers named to the Rimington Trophy Watch List announced by the Rimington Trophy Committee today. Given to the Most Outstanding Center in college football, the Rimington Trophy is named after Nebraska's two-time consensus All-America center Dave Rimington. "Eddie brings a wealth of experience and athleticism to the position," NIU head coach Jerry Kill said. "Your offensive line always starts with the center, and we feel he's one of the best centers in the country." Adamski, a senior, has played and started every game (38 total) of his three years at center for the Huskies. A second team All-MAC honoree from Phil Steele Magazine and third team all-conference selection from the league last season, he is once again expected to be the leader of the NIU offensive line in 2009. A preseason All-MAC candidate, Adamski is a member of Kill's Leadership Council. The anchor of the Huskie offensive line, Adamski is coming off one of his best seasons at NIU. Named the Huskies' offensive lineman of the week three times last year, he played his best football of the year in October and November according to offensive line coach Matt Limegrover. He helped lead a Huskie rushing attack that averaged 171.2 rushing yards per game to rank third in the MAC and 36th in the country in 2008. Adamski is one of three other centers in the MAC to be named to the Watch List. Also named to the list are Bowling Green's Ben Bojicic and Colin Miller from Central Michigan. The Huskies open the 2009 campaign September 5 at Wisconsin. Kick off is set for 6 p.m. Central Time. Tickets for the 2009 home schedule, which kicks off Sept. 12 vs. Western Illinois, are on sale now. Call 815-752-6800 or go to www.niuhuskies.com to order.
