2009 NIU Football Schedule in PDF Format DeKALB, Ill. - Two additional Northern Illinois' 2009 football games will be televised and the Huskies have set game times for five of their six 2009 home contests, NIU and the Mid-American Conference announced Wednesday. The MAC office released the league's 2009 ESPN Plus syndicated broadcast schedule, which will feature the Huskies' home game versus Akron on October 31. That game will kick off at 11 a.m. (Central Time) on Brigham Field at Huskie Stadium. The teams will meet for the first time since the 2005 MAC Championship game, won in the final seconds by Akron. Northern Illinois' game at Purdue on Sept. 19 also will begin at 11 a.m., and will be carried on the Big Ten Network as the Huskies will make their second appearance of the season on that station. NIU's season-opening game at Wisconsin on Sept. 5 was already announced as a Big Ten Network game with a kickoff time of 6 p.m. Northern Illinois also released the game times for its first three home contests of the year as the Sept. 12 home opener versus Western Illinois will begin at 6:30 p.m., while the Idaho (Sept. 26) and Western Michigan (Oct. 3) games are slated for 2:30 p.m starts. Information on television broadcasts for those contests is to be announced. The WMU game will mark the 103rd Homecoming celebration in NIU history. Earlier this spring, three of NIU's November games were tabbed for possible ESPNU broadcast with the network making those selections later in the season. The Thursday, Nov. 5 home game versus Eastern Michigan will begin at 6:30 p.m. while the start times for the home finale versus MAC West defending champion Ball State on Thursday, Nov. 12 and the season finale at Central Michigan on Friday, Nov. 27, will be announced at a later date.
Three of NIU's MAC opponents released the times for their home games versus Northern Illinois as the NIU-Toledo game on Oct. 17 will begin at 6 p.m., the Oct. 24 contest at Miami (Ohio) at noon and the Nov. 21 outing at Ohio at 1 p.m. Season tickets for NIU's six-game home schedule are on sale now through the Northern Illinois Athletics Ticket Office in the Convocation Center and at all Ticketmaster outlets, while single game sales begin on July 1. Season tickets are available for just $90 for all six home contests, and a three-game "you pick `em" mini-plan can be purchased for only $50. NIU faculty and staff, senior citizens and Varsity Club and Alumni Association members receive a discount on full season tickets, dropping the price to $78. Individual game tickets are $20 each, and cost just $15 for senior citizens (62+) and youth (8th grade and younger).
