DETROIT - Northern Illinois fans can welcome the unofficial start of the 2011 football season Tuesday as NIU head coach Dave Doeren, quarterback Chandler Harnish and defensive end Sean Progar participate in Mid-American Conference Football Media Day in Detroit, Mich.

The annual gathering brings together coaches and student-athletes from all 13 league football schools along with media from across the conference to "kickoff" the 2011 campaign.

Huskie fans can follow the action and get updates on MAC Media Day in multiple ways on Tuesday. NIU will be providing updates throughout Tuesday morning's media session via NIU Athletics twitter feed @NIUAthletics. Hear from Coach Doeren and the players and keep up with what's going on in Detroit all morning long in 140 character bytes.

Fans can also watch a live interview with the Huskies, as well as all of the attendees, via the new MAC Digital Network at www.mac-sports.com. The free live stream begins at 8 a.m. (CT) with the Huskies scheduled to be on "set" from 10-10:10 a.m. For the complete schedule of teams, go to www.mac-sports.com.

Finally, finish out your Tuesday by listening to in-depth interviews with Doeren, Harnish, Progar, MAC Commissioner Dr. Jon Steinbrecher and more by two of the people who know the Huskies best - NIU Sports Radio Network team Bill Baker and Mark Lindo. IMG College will present a one hour NIU MAC Preview show on WLBK AM 1360, the radio home of the Huskies, from 5-6 p.m. (CT).

Tickets for the 2011 Northern Illinois football season, which opens Sept. 3 when the Huskies play host to Army, are on sale now through the NIU Athletics Ticket Office in the Convocation Center and online at www.NIUHuskies.com. Season tickets for all six Huskie football home games are available for just $99 for the general public and $88 for NIU faculty and staff, senior citizens, NIU Alumni Association and Varsity Club members. Three-game mini-plans are also available for just $50 each with customers allowed to choose their own games.

Northern Illinois fans can also purchase tickets to Soldier Field Showdown II, the Sept. 17 game between NIU and Wisconsin at Chicago's Soldier Field. Tickets to the game are $90, $75 and $60 and can be purchased online at www.Ticketmaster.com or www.HuskieFootball2011.com.
