DEKALB, Ill. - The Northern Illinois University football team added another appearance to its 2011 broadcast schedule as Fox College Sports will televise the Huskies' Sept. 10 contest at Kansas, the network announced Thursday. Kick off remains 6 p.m. at Kivisto Field at Memorial Stadium.
The Huskies, who are led by first-year head coach Dave Doeren, will have 10 games broadcast this season, including eight on an ESPN platform. NIU's 2011 Homecoming game versus Western Michigan on Oct. 15 will be televised by Comcast SportsNet Chicago.
Kansas and NIU will meet for only the second time. Northern Illinois won the only previous game played between the teams as the Huskies claimed a 37-34 victory in Lawrence in 1983.
NIU opens the 2011 campaign on Saturday, Sept. 3 when Army visits Huskie Stadium for the first time. That game will be available on ESPN3.com. Tickets for the 2011 Northern Illinois football season are on sale now through the NIU Athletics Ticket Office in the Convocation Center and online at www.NIUHuskies.com. Season tickets for all six Huskie football home games are available for just $99 for the general public and $88 for NIU faculty and staff, senior citizens, NIU Alumni Association and Varsity Club members. Season tickets provide a 33 percent discount compared to single game ticket prices, and season ticket holders still receive a $15 discount off the purchase of an equal number of tickets to Soldier Field Showdown II. Three-game mini-plans are also available for just $50 each with customers allowed to choose their own games.
Northern Illinois fans can also purchase tickets to Soldier Field Showdown II, the Sept. 17 game between NIU and Wisconsin at Chicago's Soldier Field. Tickets to the game are $90, $75 and $60 and can be purchased online at www.Ticketmaster.com or www.HuskieFootball2011.com.
