Air Travel

There are numerous options flying into Toronto for the International Bowl.  Flights are affordable and direct from Chicago's O'Hare airport.  Current flight prices range from $325-$400 depending on airline and departure/arrival.  Airlines with non-stop direct flights to Toronto's Pearson International Airport include American Airlines, United and Air Canada.  Flight duration is just over an hour and a half.

From DeKalb to Toronto is 581 miles and is estimated just over 9 hours driving time.

What is the current exchange rate between American and Canadian currency?

How much are tickets and where can I purchase them?

Tickets are available through the NIU ticket office at (815) 752-6800. All NIU tickets are $40.

HASF donors and Football Season Ticket Holders who purchase a minimum of two (2) bowl tickets through NIU Athletics by December 15 will receive:
•    One (1) Bowl gift
•    One Coupon/voucher for official bowl t-shirt from Village Commons Bookstore

Any other fan
who purchases a minimum of two (2) bowl tickets through NIU Athletics by December 15 will receive:
•    One coupon/voucher for bowl apparel from Village Commons Bookstore

Why is it important to purchase International Bowl tickets through NIU?

It is extremely important for NIU fans to purchase tickets through the NIU ticket office because:

•    It helps NIU fulfill its commitment to selling the maximum tickets possible

•    NIU fans can purchase premium seating in the NIU fan section

•    A large support base will enhance our program's attractiveness to future bowls


How will actual ticket locations for NIU fans be determined/allocated?

Ticket placements will be made in the following rank order:
1) Huskie Athletic Scholarship Fund (HASF) donors and corporate partners
2) Season ticket holders  
3) General Public

Of the tickets given to NIU, the HASF loyalty point system will be used to determine how the tickets are allocated to Huskie fans. For more information about the loyalty point system, please visit http://niuhuskies.cstv.com/support-groups/hasf-loyalty-points.html.

Additionally, by purchasing your tickets through NIU, you will be supporting the university in our effort to demonstrate our commitment to selling the maximum tickets possible. We are responsible for purchasing a significant allotment of tickets and by purchasing tickets through us, you help NIU sell its share.

Donated tickets may also be used to support other important civic initiatives in the Toronto community and will have a maximum tax deduction. Your donation of tickets to NIU students is of especially great importance when considering our need to have a LARGE Huskie contingent there against South Florida.

I cannot attend, but how can I best support the team?

By purchasing tickets through NIU even if you can't attend the game, you will be helping the Huskies fulfill their bowl requirement and help NIU students attend the game. How may I pick-up tickets I purchase?

Tickets will be available exclusively through Will Call (unless other arrangements need to be made). Tickets will be available beginning on Wednesday, December 16 at the Convocation Center Box Office. Ticket office hours are Monday - Friday 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. The office will be open through Wednesday, December 23rd. Tickets not picked up by that date will be available for pick up in Toronto at the Sheraton Centre (123 Queen Street West) beginning on December 30. NIU Will call in Toronto will be available 12 - 5 p.m. on December 30th, 31st and January 1. All game day pick up will be at the Rogers Centre (Gate 6A) will call window beginning at 10:30 a.m. EST.

Will the game be televised?

The game will be televised nationally on ESPN2.  

What events are going on surrounding the bowl?

Below is a list of events open to the public that are being held in conjunction with the International Bowl.  Please continue to check back often as more events are being scheduled daily.

Battle of the Marching Bands
Friday, January 1st (Open to Public)

Don't wait until game day to be in downtown Toronto.  On Friday evening at 5:30 p.m., the marching bands will face off at Metro Hall Square.  Each band will perform their school's fight song, and then alternate with selected numbers. After crowning the winner, band members and fans filter into the many eateries and pubs in the finest Entertainment District in North America.

Game Day Pep Rally
Saturday, January 2nd (Open to Public)
The International Bowl gets off to a rousing start as each school hosts a pre-game pep rally at the Rogers Centre.  Join the marching bands and cheerleaders for a pre-game performance and rally on the stadium plaza prior to entering the stadium.

International Bowl Game
Saturday, January 2nd Noon, EST

The 3rd Annual International Bowl continues a great holiday tradition for the City of Toronto, the Big East Conference, and the Mid-American Conference.  Kickoff from the Rogers Centre, the world's first retractable roof arena, is at Noon.

Where do I purchase official NIU International Bowl gear?

What factors allowed us to receive the bid for the International Bowl?

There were many quality teams across the country vying for bowl bids and an impressive five Mid-American Conference schools were chosen to compete in bowl games. The International Bowl pairs the Mid-American Conference vs. Big East Conference.  In conjunction with the MAC's affiliation with the International Bowl, officials cited our loyal fan base, frequent national television exposure, and our strong turnouts in our last two bowl games as primary reasons for our selection.

What should I know about the International Bowl?

In addition to showcasing a great brand of football, the International Bowl has many objectives, such as:

• Showcasing the pageantry, excitement and atmosphere of NCAA Division I College Football;

• Drawing positive international attention to the City of Toronto to stimulate tourism during an historically low time of year for tourism;

• Generating a significant positive economic impact for the region;

• Supporting worthy causes in the community.

Will my mobile phone work in Canada?
