DEKALB, Ill. - Northern Illinois University kicker Mathew Sims was named one of the Lou Groza Award's "Stars of the Week" following his performance in NIU's 43-39 win over Eastern Illinois, the Palm Beach County Sports Commission announced today.

A native of Hannibal, Mo., Sims was three-for-three field goal attempts and scored 13 points on the night. With the score tied 20-20 with five seconds left in the half, Sims hit an 18-yard field goal to give the Huskies a 23-20 halftime lead. He hit a 33-yarder in the third quarter to give the Huskies a 33-26 advantage in the third.

With the score tied, 33-33, and 11:24 left to play, Sims hit a game-high 37-yard field goal to put the Huskies up 36-33. He has hit seven-of-eight field goals in 2013, and hit a season-long 51-yard field goal at Idaho in the second game of the season.

Sims earned MAC West Special Teams Player of the Week honors after kicking the game-winning field goal with four seconds left at Iowa to give NIU a 30-27 win over the Hawkeyes.

NIU returns to action Saturday, Sept. 28 when the Huskies travel to Purdue. Season and single game tickets for Northern Illinois' 2013 home schedule are on sale now. The Huskieland Plan, which includes a ticket to all five home games (sections A and G) and $50 in Doggie Dollars good for parking and/or concessions, is just $50. All remaining season ticket locations for the 2013 Huskie Stadium home slate are just $100 while NIU Alumni Association members, senior citizens (62+), NIU Varsity Club (former letterwinners) members and faculty and staff can see every game for just $88. Single game tickets are priced at just $15 for seating in the upper rows of sections A and G in Huskie Stadium, while seats in sections B, F and lower A and G are $24 for the general public and $18 for senior citizens (ages 62 and over) and youth (ages 3-13). Seats in section C, D and E, as well as seats on the East Side, are just $30 for the general public and $20 for senior citizens and youth.
