NIU-Kent State Football Game to Air Live in Rockford

DeKALB, Ill. - Saturday's Northern Illinois University football game at Kent State University, a rematch of the 2012 Mid-American Conference title game and the Huskies' first MAC game of the year, will be televised by the league's new partner, Time Warner Cable SportsChannel, and available locally on WTVO-DT2 (Rockford's MyNetworkTV). Kickoff is at 2:30 p.m. (CT) from Kent State's Dix Stadium.

NIU (4-0, 0-0) entered the Top 25 rankings in the USA Today Coaches Poll this week at No. 23, while the Golden Flashes (2-3, 1-1) are coming off a victory over Western Michigan and are 2-3 on the season.

Rockford's MyNetworkTV can be found over the air on channel 17.2, on channel 16 for Comcast and Charter customers in the Rockford area and on DirecTV Channel 18. The NIU-Kent State game will air on Time Warner Cable Sportschannel throughout Ohio and in Erie, Pa. on channels 1311 (HD) and 311 on Time Warner Cable systems. In addition, Comcast SportsNet Chicago will air the NIU-Kent State game throughout Chicagoland on Thursday, Oct. 10 at 7 p.m.

UPDATE:  On Tuesday, the Mid-American Conference announced that Time Warner Cable Sportschannel Milwaukee will air the NIU-Kent State game tape-delayed on Saturday night at 7 p.m. (CT). The channel is available in Milwaukee on Time Warner Cable 32 and digital 1332.

ESPN3 will stream TWS' broadcast of the NIU-Kent State game online (find the link at, and the game will be available to users with an active subscription from an affiliated provider via WatchESPN and the WatchESPN mobile application. Time Warner Cable SportsChannel is a 24/7 sports network that carries regional programming on different channel locations across the nation. Cleveland sports anchor Mike Cairns will handle play-by-play duties for the NIU-Kent State game with Akron native and former Notre Dame All-American Frank Stams alongside as analyst.

The Mid-American Conference also announced on Monday that NIU's 107th Homecoming contest versus Akron on Oct. 12 at Huskie Stadium will be streamed live exclusively on ESPN3 and via WatchESPN to mobile subscribers. The NIU-Akron game kicks off at 4 p.m. and tickets are on sale now online at by calling 815-753-PACK(7225). Single game tickets start at just $15 with the best seats available for $30 each.

With four home games still remaining, season tickets - either full price ($100) or through the HuskieLand Plan ($50) -- are still on sale. Season tickets provide a less expensive option and other benefits (e.g. free away game tickets to a participating MAC opponent) than single game tickets for those planning to see every remaining NIU home game this year.
