DEKALB, Ill. –Northern Illinois University tailback Cameron Stingily was named Mid-American Conference West Division Offensive Player of the Week following his outstanding performance in a 38-24 win at Kent State Saturday the league announced Monday.
Stingily, who averaged 7.2 yards a carry, rushed for a career-high 266 yards on 37 carries and scored a pair of rushing touchdowns to lead a NIU ground attack which amassed 454 yards, the eighth highest total in school history. Stingily’s yardage total ranks second among all FBS schools this season and was the most by a Huskie running back since Garrett Wolfe set the school record with 353 yards at Ball State in 2006. He recorded the 12th highest rushing yardage day in school history on just his second career 100-yard rushing day.
In addition to earning MAC West Offensive Player of the Week honors, the Romeoville, Ill. native was nominated for the Capital One Cup Impact Performance of the Week. Fans can vote for Stingily online at espn.com/capitalonecup.
Stingily joins defensive tackle quarterback Jordan Lynch (Chicago, Ill./Mt. Carmel), Ken Bishop (Lauderhill, Fla./Piper), kicker Mathew Sims (Hannibal, Mo./Hannibal) and wide receiver Tommylee Lewis (Riviera Beach, Fla./W.T. Dwyer) as Northern Illinois’ MAC POTW honorees this season. Lynch has earned MAC Offensive Player of the Week honors three times this season, while Lewis is a two-time winner. Bishop earned MAC West Defensive Player of The Week accolades for his performance in NIU’s 45-35 victory at Idaho, while Sims earned MAC West Special Teams Player of the Week honors after kicking the game-winning field goal in NIU’s 30-27 victory over Iowa in the season opener.
The Huskies return home Saturday, Oct. 12 to face Akron for NIU’s 107th Homecoming Game. Season and single game tickets for Northern Illinois' 2013 home schedule are on sale now. The Huskieland Plan, which includes a ticket to all five home games (sections A and G) and $50 in Doggie Dollars good for parking and/or concessions, is just $50. Single game tickets are priced at just $15 for seating in the upper rows of sections A and G in Huskie Stadium, while seats in sections B, F and lower A and G are $24 for the general public and $18 for senior citizens (ages 62 and over) and youth (ages 3-13). Seats in section C, D and E, as well as seats on the East Side, are just $30 for the general public and $20 for senior citizens and youth.
