DeKALB, Ill. - For the second straight week, ESPN has selected a Northern Illinois football game for national broadcast as the Huskies' game on Thursday, November 12 versus Ball State will air on ESPNU with kickoff at 5 p.m. (CST) from Huskie Stadium. The game will mark NIU's second straight Thursday night showing on ESPNU.
The game was one of two MAC contests being considered for broadcast on ESPNU that night. A 24-hour college sports network, ESPNU is available in 55 million households across the country.
Northern Illinois plays Eastern Michigan this Thursday, Nov. 5 at 6:30 p.m. at Huskie Stadium on ESPNU.
The Ball State game will mark Northern Illinois' 34th appearance on an ESPN network all-time and its fifth airing on ESPNU. Four Huskie games were seen on an ESPN network in 2008.
Overall, eight Northern Illinois games are now confirmed for over-the-air broadcast this year. ESPNU's selections for Nov. 27, when NIU will play at Central Michigan, will be announced 12 days prior to the game.
The Ball State game has been designated as the official "Black Out" game for 2009 and all fans are encouraged to wear black to that contest. Northern Illinois will honor its 2009 seniors prior to that game, which is the final home game of the season.
