DEKALB, Ill. - Show your support for the No. 18/19 ranked 2012 Northern Illinois Huskies as they depart for the Marathon MAC Championship Game in Detroit by joining the NIU community in a send off for the team on Thursday, Nov. 29 at 8:15 a.m. at Huskie Stadium.
Students, faculty and fans are invited to come to the west side of the stadium and cheer, yell and high five the Huskies as they exit the Yordon Center and board buses that will carry them to their third straight MAC title game. Northern Illinois (11-1, 8-0 MAC), who will face MAC East Champion Kent State (11-1, 8-0 MAC) in the game at Ford Field on Friday, Nov. 30, will depart at 8:30 a.m. Parking will be available on the West Grass of Huskie Stadium; use the entrance off of Stadium Drive.
Northern Illinois Associate Vice-President and Director of Athletics Jeff Compher said coming to the send off is just one way fans can support the team this weekend.
"I hope as many of our fans as possible will come out on Thursday morning to cheer on our team as they leave for Detroit," said NIU Associate Vice-President and Director of Athletics Jeff Compher. "With two ranked teams playing for a possible berth in a BCS bowl game Friday night, this is one of the biggest games in NIU history. We need as many Huskie fans as possible to be in the stands in Detroit on Friday night.
"Northern Illinois University will be on a national stage and with representatives from the Orange and Sugar bowls in attendance, I look forward to seeing a lot of red at Ford Field."
Kickoff for the Huskies and Golden Flashes is set for 6 p.m. CT and the game can be seen on ESPN2.
