Huskies Announce Student Travel Packages to International Bowl

DeKALB, Ill. - Northern Illinois Athletics, the NIU Student Association and the Campus Activities Board is sponsoring a student bus trip to the Huskies' football bowl game in Toronto, Ontario, Canada for just $100 to the first 100 students who sign up beginning Tuesday morning, Dec. 8 at 9 a.m. To sign up, Northern Illinois students can call the NIU Athletics Marketing Office at 815-753-1923 beginning at 9 a.m. After the first 100 spots on the buses are taken, the student bus package to Toronto is priced at just $180. Proper identification as an NIU student is required and all travelers must have a valid passport. The trip includes transportation to Toronto on Friday, January 1, leaving from the NIU Convocation Center in DeKalb with a pick-up location at the Oakbrook Center in Oakbrook, Ill. at 10:15 a.m. Buses will stop twice on the way to Toronto before arriving at the Northern Illinois team hotel, the Sheraton Centre, at approximately 9 p.m. (EST). Travelers will spend the nights of January 1st and 2nd at the Sheraton Centre (four people per room), and receive a free ticket to the Huskies' match-up versus the University of South Florida Bulls. The game will be played in the Rogers Centre, the world's first stadium built with a fully retractable roof, beginning at Noon (EST). Following the game, return to the hotel or enjoy the sights and sounds of Toronto. Buses will leave for the return trip to Oakbrook and DeKalb on Sunday, January 3 at 9 a.m. (EST). In addition to the bus package, NIU is offering a hotel only option for students who want to make their own way to Toronto. Cost of the Student Hotel package, which consists of two nights at the Sheraton Centre (four people per room) and a free game ticket, is just $98. There is NO discounted price available for the hotel only package. The Sheraton Centre is located within walking distance of the Rogers Centre and many attractions in downtown Toronto. Huskie fans who arrive in the city Friday afternoon are also invited to attend the Battle of the Marching Bands at 5:30 p.m. at Metro Hall Square before enjoying a night on the town in Toronto, and can get fired up just prior to the game at the Game Day Pep Rally on the stadium plaza.
