Derek Sisko is in his second season as assistant coach after joining the Huskies' staff in August, 2007. In addition to coaching and recruiting duties at NIU, Sisko coordinates team practices, strength and conditioning, fundraising and administrative duties. Sisko, a 2007 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse with a degree in exercise and sport science, will complete his master's degree in sport management master's at NIU in December, 2008.
From June-August, 2007, Sisko was as an operations assistant for the PGA of America at the 89th PGA Championship in Tulsa, Okla. Prior to his stint with the PGA, Sisko was a golf marketing intern for U.S. Junior Golf Tours in La Crosse. Sisko served as the head golf coach at La Crescent High School in La Crescent, Minn., during the 2006 season. On the course, Sisko was a two-time qualifier for the AAU Golf Junior National Olympic Games, finishing in the top-15 each occasion, including a tie for seventh at Brooklyn Park, Minn. As a prep, Sisko set the Ladysmith (Wisc.) High home course record and helped lead the school's basketball team to the 2003 WIAA Division 3 State Championship after a runner-up finish in 2002. He also competed in golf, basketball and football while in high school. |
