HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. - The Northern Illinois men's golf team completed play at the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate , finishing in 13th place after completing the 72-par course with a score of 949.

"We'll definitely get better and will have a chance to work on things," said head coach John Cleary. "We had a lot of great support and the people were wonderful. It was a really nice trip I just wish we could have had better results."

Sophomore Andrew Frame shot a team-low 77 on a "course that is difficult to play with windy conditions and little practice time," according to Cleary.

Senior Zach Jecklin was the top overall Huskie finisher. Jecklin's opening-round 71 allowed him a 50th-place finish at 16-over par.

Frame placed two spots behind Jecklin at 19-over par. He was followed by Tim Kay in 60th with a 22-over, Alex Wagner at 71st with a plus-28 and Greg Bauman in 78th with a 37-over.

The Huskies continue competition at the Arkansas-Little Rock First Tee Intercollegiate, March 17-18.
