Sugar Grove, Ill. -- The University of Tulsa staved off a late charge by Alabama and held on for the 2007 NCAA Men's Golf Central Regional Championship at Rich Harvest Farms on Saturday afternoon with a three-round tally of 895.

"We're leaving every day of the tournament still happy," Tulsa head men's golf coach Bill Brogden said. "It was a struggle out there today and we had a lot of miscues.

"Trying to win is one thing, but finishing 10th and going to nationals was the key."

The Crimson Tide finished with an 898, followed by Louisville (899), Lamar (900), Tennessee (904), Oklahoma State (906), Texas Tech (907), Michigan State (915), Texas (916) and Minnesota (918) to round out the top ten. The Golden Gophers edged Texas A&M (918) in a one-hole playoff to earn the final berth in the 2007 NCAA Championships.

The rest of the field includes Wisconsin (919), Northwestern (920), Illinois State (924), Southeastern Louisiana (925), Wichita State (930), Western Illinois (930), Baylor (937), Purdue (939), Colorado (940), Oklahoma State (943), Nebraska (943), SMU (945), Kansas (947), TCU (957), Siena (997) and Texas Southern (1,029).

Lamar's Dawie Van Der Walt and Wisconsin's Dan Woltman shared the individual title at one-under-par (215), followed by Western Illinois' Tim Streng (+3, 219), Xavier's Jason Kokrak and Alabama's Michael Thompson, who both tied for fourth (+4, 220). Streng and Woltman each earned the automatic berth into the NCAA Championships, by virtue of being the top two individuals at the tourney.
