NEBRASKA CITY, Neb. - Northern Illinois sits in a third place tie after its initial round of the 2008-09 season Monday at the Nebraska Fairway Club Invitational, hosted by the University of Nebraska. Andrew Frame (Manteno, Ill./Manteno) led the Huskies with a first-round 72 and is tied for fifth place.

The Huskies team total of 294 puts them just four strokes off the lead. Individually, freshman Max Hosking (Madison, Wisc./La Follette) fired a 73 in his collegiate debut and is tied for 10th position and Alex Wagner (St. Charles, Ill./East) shot a 74 and is tied for 14th.

"The guys played well and we had a pretty good first round," said head coach John Cleary. "Max had a good first round in his first collegiate tournament and both he and Andrew finished their rounds with a birdie. There were a lot of positives."

Matt Triplett (St. Charles, Ill./East) totaled a 75 and is tied for 19th while Tim Kay (Bartlett, Ill./Bartlett) recorded a 76 to tie for 30th to round out the NIU contingent.

Morning rain delayed the start of play and eventually led to the cancellation of a round, shortening of the tournament from 54 to 36 holes. The tournament's final round is set for Tuesday morning with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. CT.
