Huskies Finish Fourth At Nebraska's Fairway Club Invitational

NEBRASKA CITY, Neb. - Led by a pair of top ten finishes, Northern Illinois claimed fourth place at the Fairway Club Invitational hosted by the University of Nebraska. Andrew Frame (Manteno, Ill./Manteno) led the way with a seventh place finish and freshman Max Hosking (Madison, Wisc./La Follette) tied for eighth.

The tournament was shortened to 36 holes after rain washed away one of Monday's two scheduled rounds.

Frame fired a final round 74 to finish at 146 for the tournament, seven strokes behind medalist Shane Pearce of Texas-Pan American. Hosking, who also shot a 74 on Tuesday, finished one stroke behind his teammate at 147 for 36 holes.

As a team, the Huskies totaled a 298 in the final round and finished at 592 for the tournament, won by South Dakota State.

"It was a good tournament for us and a good way to start the year," said head coach John Cleary. "It was nice to have two guys in the top ten and to have Max finish in the top 10 in his first collegiate tournament was a bonus There were a lot of good things that we can take and build on the rest of year."

Tim Kay (Bartlett, Ill./Bartlett) and Alex Wagner (St. Charles, Ill./East) each recorded two-round totals of 150 and tied for 25th. Matt Triplett (St. Charles, Ill./East) rounded out the Huskie scoring with a 155 to finish tied for 43rd.

NIU returns to action Sept. 22-23 at the Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational, hosted by Ball State University in Muncie, Ind.
