MUNCIE, Ind. - Northern Illinois took fourth place at the Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational after shooting a 295 during the final round at the Delaware Country Club. Making his Huskie debut, freshmen Adam Rosenthal (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) finished six strokes behind the leader in seventh place, after firing a 211 (69-68-74).

It was the second straight tournament in which a Huskie freshman placed in the top 10. Max Hosking (Madison, Wis./La Follette) placed eighth at the Nebraska Fairway Club Invitational earlier this month.

As a team, Northern Illinois totaled an 872 for the tournament, won by Eastern Kentucky. The Huskies have finished fourth in both of their tournaments this year.

"We had a good tournament," head coach John Cleary said, "It's always nice to know that you have a shot at first going into the last day."

Hosking posted the best final round for the Huskies with a 72, fours strokes behind the day's low round and tallied an overall score of 219 (75-72-72). Alex Wagner (St. Charles, Ill./East) also shot a 219 (78-66-75) as both Huskies placed in a tie for 17th.

"We battled out there but couldn't get the putts to drop today," Cleary said. "As a team we keep improving, and we have a lot to take away from this tourney."

Jeff Dick (Sherman, Tex./Sherman) placed in a tie for 38th after firing a 223 (76-73-74) and Tim Kay (Bartlett, Ill./Bartlett) shot a 75, his best round of the tournament to finish with an overall score of 230 (78-77-75).

NIU returns to the course next week, Sept. 29-30, at the Oral Roberts Invitational in Tulsa, Okla.
