Huskies Take Third at Oral Roberts Shootout
Sept. 30, 2008
BROKEN ARROW, Okla. - The Northern Illinois men's golf team continued their strong Fall season during the final round of the Oral Roberts Shootout. The Huskies shot a 302 to finish in a tie for third place with an overall score of 900. Freshman Max Hosking (Madison, Wis./ La Follette) tallied an overall score of 218 to finish in a tie for third place. It was Hosking's second top-10 finish of the Fall and the third straight tournament in which a Freshman has placed in the top-10. Two other Huskies placed in the Top-15. Adam Rosenthal (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) shot a 72, his best round of the tournament and finished in a tie for 13th (225). Andrew Frame (Manteno, Ill./Manteno), despite shooting a 78 in the final round, still finished one stroke behind his teammate and tied for 15th place. "Overall it was a good tournament," said Head Coach John Cleary, "The course played tougher today, the hole locations made it harder." Alex Wagner (St. Charles, Ill./East) shot a 234 (74-78-82) and Greg Bauman (Crystal Lake, Ill./Central) tallied a 226 (82-82-79) during the three rounds. The Huskies have finished no lower than fourth place during this young season. Cleary is proud of the way his team has performed in the three tournaments. "We're keeping our trend going, everyone is getting better each tournament," said Cleary, "We're excited for the season." NIU is back in action when they tee off at the Davidson Invitational October 13-14 in North Carolina. -NIU-
