Northern Illinois Completes First Day at the Windon Memorial Classic

GLENCOE, Ill. - Northern Illinois completed the first two rounds of the Windon Memorial Classic Sunday at the Lake Shore Country Club. The Huskies improved 10 strokes in round two and are in ninth place, one stroke behind the tournament's defending champion SMU.

Andrew Frame (Manteno, Ill./Manteno) leads the Huskie contingent, sitting in a tie for 20th place after firing rounds of 72 and 71 for a total two-round score of 143. Alex Wagner (St. Charles, Ill./East) shot a 144 (73-71) and is in a tie for 25th.

"The guys really stepped up and played well during the second round this afternoon," head coach John Cleary said. "We finished well and were five under over the final three holes of the second round and got a couple birdies on par fives. We hung in there, kept our focus and played until the end. Hopefully we can continue this pace and move up a few more spots tomorrow."

Tim Kay (Bartlett, Ill./Bartlett) completed rounds of 76 and 73 to total 149 and is tied for 48th while Greg Bauman (Crystal Lake, Ill./Central) had a 154 (77-77) is tied for 63rd.
