DeKALB, Ill. - The Northern Illinois men's golf team added Greg Pohlmann to its 2010 spring roster on Thursday, as the Iowa Western C.C. transfer will be sophomore eligible for the first event of the upcoming season, the Pinehurst Intercollegiate in the Village of Pinehurst, N.C. on March 12-14.

"Greg is a bright young man who brings a considerable amount of junior college and tournament experience to NIU," said Huskie head coach Tom Porten. "He has a well-developed short game that will help him get into the lineup and improve our scoring. We look forward to seeing his progress and are excited to have him join the Huskie golf family."

While competing for the Reivers, the Columbus, Neb. native posted a scoring average of 75.21 in 11 total tournaments with a pair of top-five finishes and seven top-tens. In the fall of 2009, he won both matches at the No. 2 spot for IWCC at the Drake University Dual, took third with an even 71 at the 2009 Reiver Fall Classic and finished sixth at the 2009 Nebraska Wesleyan Fall Classic with a two-over 144. He also finished second at the 2008 Reiver Fall Classic with a two-over 73 and tied for 29th at the 2008-09 NJCAA Men's National Championship.

As a prep at Lakeview High School, Pohlmann earned four varsity letters and finished in the top-10 three times at the Nebraska State Class B Championships, taking fourth as a junior, ninth as a sophomore and seventh as a freshman. He also holds the Lakeview records for lowest nine-hole score (33), lowest 18-hole score (69) and lowest season average (37.8 in 2006).

In 2007 amateur competition, Pohlmann was a semi-finalist at the Nebraska Junior Match Play Championship and was runner-up at the Nebraska Junior Stroke Play Championship, while he took ninth in the Callaway Junior Series. In 2008, he was runner-up at the Nebraska Junior Stroke Play Championship and Indian Creek Amateur. From 2007-08, he was a two-time member of the Nebraska-Kansas Junior Cup Matches and Nebraska Golf Association Junior All-Star Team.
