DEKALB, Ill. -- NIU Athletics is seeking volunteers for the 2014 NCAA Men’s Golf Regional, to be held May 14-17 at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Ill. You must be 18 years of age or older to volunteer, high school students are not eligible; all volunteers will receive a commemorative jacket and hat.
Opportunities to volunteer are available in many areas, including live scoring, spotting, hospitality and shuttle drivers. Spotters will be assigned to a hole and assist participating golfers in locating balls. Shuttle drivers will provide transportation around the course for other volunteers and spectators. Hospitality volunteers will handle customer service related issues.
Two volunteer shifts will be held each day, with a morning shift from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and an afternoon shift from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. All volunteers must provide their own transportation to and from Rich Harvest Farms.
Live scoring volunteers will walk 18 holes with a competing group, with tee times scheduled between 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., on each of the three competition days in the tournament, May 15-17. Live scoring volunteers will be asked to check in 45 minutes prior to their tee time.
An orientation for all volunteers will be held at Rich Harvest Farms, date and time to be determined.
