DeKalb, Ill. - Former Northern Illinois men's golfing great Greg Dick set the bar very high for all future Huskie golfers, as he was a two-time Honorable Mention NCAA All-American, 1978 Mid-American Conference Champion and 1995 inductee into the NIU Athletics Hall of Fame.

Dick's son Jeff Dick (Sherman, Texas) hopes to surpass that bar, as the Sherman, Texas native has inked a National Letter of Intent to play golf for the Huskies, beginning with the 2007-08 school year.

Dick, a two-sport star in both golf and basketball at Sherman High School, was a two-time team MVP for his golf team and co-MVP of his basketball team as a senior.

"We're looking forward to having Jeff come up and join the Huskies," NIU head men's golf coach John Cleary said. "He should add depth to our squad now that he can pour all of his energy into one sport and hopefully have as good a record or better than his father."

A two-year golf captain, Dick placed third overall at the District 5-4A Tournament and 12th at the Regional Championships as a senior. As a junior, Dick placed seventh overall at the District Tournament on his way to All-Region honors.
