Sept. 22, 2008
MUNCIE, Ind. - Northern Illinois was able to complete the first two rounds of competition at the Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational hosted by Ball State University. Darkness suspended the remaining of the second round, leaving four teams on the course. Out of the nine teams that were able to complete both rounds, the Huskies currently sit in third with a score of 577. Alex Wagner's (St. Charles, Ill./East) season low round of 66 helped the Huskies improve 19 strokes in the second round. Wagner is currently tied for 12th place with a 144 (78-66). Adam Rosenthal (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie), making his college debut, sits two strokes behind the leader tied for third place after firing rounds of 69 and 68 for a two-round total of 137. "We were able to put the first round behind us, everyone improved in the second round," said head coach John Cleary. "Our putting was a lot better and led to more birdies." Max Hosking (Madison, Wis./La Follette) completed rounds of 75 and 72 to total 147 while Jeff Dick had a 149 (76-73). The second round at the Delaware Country Club will conclude tomorrow morning with the final round immediately following. -NIU-
