Huskies to Celebrate 2011 Champions with Commemorative Book

Jan. 18, 2012

DeKALB, Ill. - Northern Illinois will sell a commemorative book celebrating its 2011 Mid-American Conference and Bowl football champions, and recognizing the MAC Championships captured by the NIU men's soccer and volleyball teams this past fall in a historic season for NIU Athletics.

The limited edition publication, which will be available beginning Feb. 15, is just $20 and is a "must-have" for Huskie fans who want to remember every moment of a thrilling season filled with comebacks, impressive individual performances and spectacular plays.

"Celebrating Champions" will be available for purchase at the Huskie Athletic Support Fund Kickoff event in Victor E. Court on February 15. That event will be held prior to the NIU-Western Michigan men's basketball game beginning at 5 p.m. On February 16, books can be purchased in person at the HASF Office in the Convocation Center during regular business hours, or over the phone by calling 815-753-1923. Only a limited number of these one-of-a-kind pieces will be printed.

The 64-page "Celebrating Champions" guide will focus primarily on the 2011 Huskie football team and its historic season, which culminated in NIU's first Mid-American Conference Championship in 28 years and a victory in the 2012 Bowl. The book includes game recaps and statistics from each game as well as final season statistics. In addition, special features will highlight every member of the 2011 senior class.

The glossy, 11 x 8 ½ soft-cover book is filled with full color photos from every game, as well as exclusive photos from the Huskies' trip to Mobile, Ala. for the Bowl.

In addition to chronicling the football season, "Celebrating Champions" will highlight the MAC Championships and NCAA Tournament appearances by the NIU men's soccer and women's volleyball teams.
