DeKalb, Ill. - The Northern Illinois men's soccer team seized the opportunity to give back to the community by volunteering at the Lincoln Elementary School Fun Fair that was held on Friday, February 23 at Lincoln Elementary School in DeKalb. The players and coaches donated their time and effort to help make the event a success. The proceeds from the Fun Fair benefited the Lincoln Elementary School.
The Fun Fair is an event for the children in the DeKalb community to visit the school and have fun playing games like miniature golf, Dance, Dance Revolution, and the ever popular cake walk, along with numerous other games and entertainment.
The men's soccer team participated by helping run many of the games at the event and supervising the children to ensure everyone had a good time at the Fun Fair.
Head coach Steve Simmons said of the event, "As NIU student-athletes and MAC Champions in our sport, our players understand the level of responsibility they have to make a difference off the field and outside of the classroom. It was a great event and an experience our players will never forget."
