The Northern Illinois University men’s soccer team will close the 2013 season on Saturday night, Nov. 8, when it hosts Buffalo. Prior to the match, NIU will honor its four seniors playing in their final match for the Huskies.

About Buffalo
Buffalo comes to DeKalb with a 3-11-3 record, 1-4-0 in Mid-American Conference play. The Bulls are led by Russell Cicerone; he has five goals and 12 points. Cassis Waleed has played in 16 matches in goal for UB, posting a 1.34 goals against average and a .756 save percentage.

Coach Luzzi on the Match
“It will be good to get out there one last time with this group of guys. Despite how our results have gone this has been a good group; we have a good group and a good team. It has been unfortunate that some of the results haven’t fallen our way but we have one last chance to end things on a positive note. Obviously it is Senior Day, these four guys have been through a lot with us, won trophies, and have been a big part of helping build this program over the last four years. Hopefully we will send them out on a high note and honor them with a good team performance.”

The Senior Class
NIU’s four-member senior class of Miles Herbert, Gael Rivera, James Stevenson and Sean Totsch will be honored prior to Saturday’s contest as they play their final game as Huskies. The NIU senior class has been a part of 35 victories, two MAC Championship Game appearances, including one conference title, and an appearance in the 2011 NCAA Tournament.

Stevenson’s Sweet 16
James Stevenson scored a goal on Tuesday night in NIU’s 2-1 defeat to Western Michigan (Nov. 5). The goal was Stevenson’s 16th of his career, the most of any current Huskie.

The Six Constants
Just six players, Isaac Kannah, Sean Totsch, Bertrand Gaschot, Cody Witkowski, Andrew Palumbo and Kyle Crichton, have played in all 17 games this season for the Huskies. Of that group, only one, Sean Totsch, has started all 17 matches for NIU. The senior captain has played 1,549 of a possible 1,571 minutes this season, Kannah in second in minutes played with 1,432.
