AKRON, Ohio - The Northern Illinois men's soccer team will battle Buffalo in the Mid-American Conference Tournament semifinals, Friday at 4 p.m. (CST).

The Huskies advanced to the second round with a 2-0 win over Bowling Green, Thursday. An own goal gave NIU the edge in the first half, and Danny Lopez added an insurance score in the second to secure the win. Complete Recap of Friday's Win

Northern Illinois, the second seed, enters Friday's contest with a 10-5-4 overall record. The Huskies' win over Bowling Green gave them their fourth 10-win season in the last five years.

Buffalo defeated sixth-seeded Florida Atlantic, 6-0, propelled by a hat trick from junior forward Dan Bulley.

The Huskies and Bulls faced each other, Oct. 10, and played through 110 minutes to a 1-1 tie. Junior forward Ben Thomas scored to put NIU on top 1-0 late in the first half, but a late penalty kick awarded to the Bulls tied the match 1-1 in the 80th minute. Recap of Oct. 10 Match

The winner of Friday's match will face either top-seeded Akron, or the fourth seed, Hartwick in the MAC title game, Sunday.
