2008-09: The Mid-American Conference Newcomer of the Year, and an All-MAC second-team selection ... Along with Jurica Grubisic, enrolled at NIU in January, 2009, just two weeks before the season ... Went 8-6 in singles play, with a 5-9 record in doubles competition ... Played 12 matches at the No. 2 singles position, before moving to the No. 1 flight in the regular-season MAC finale versus Ball State (April 18) ... Won four-of his first five collegiate matches, with three of those victories coming against in-state foes ... Also captured wins in three-of the last four matches of the season, including a 4-6, 7-6, 6-1 win over Ball State's Jose Perdormo, at No. 1 singles ... Went 3-2 in MAC matches, the best record among Huskie starters ... Played 16 matches at the No. 1 doubles position, playing alongside Grubisic and Jimmy Chu.
