First-year head men's tennis coach Pawel Gajdzik, who has signed five players to National Letters of Intent in less than six months, was recognized for his efforts Friday, as Northern Illinois' 2009 recruiting class was tabbed the No. 1 mid-major class in the country, according to TennisRecruiting.net.

Three days after the completion of the 2009 Mid-American Conference Men's Tennis Championships, the league's specialty awards and All-MAC teams were announced Tuesday. NIU freshman Pawel Poziomski highlighted the Huskies' representation, by being named the MAC Newcomer of the Year.

Nine days after receiving a second-team All-Mid-American Conference nod, junior men's tennis player Javier Bernabe chalked up another honor from the league office Thursday, as he was named to the Academic All-MAC team for the second-consecutive year.
