INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Northern Illinois men’s tennis team suffered its second-straight loss for the first time since March 4-9, 2012 when it lost to Butler Saturday afternoon, 5-2. The Huskies will head to their spring trip with a 7-4.

The Huskies upper half of the lineup was the strongest of the day with wins at Nos. 2 and 3 in singles play. Sophomores rules the day for Northern Illinois as Dor Amir defeated Pulok Bhattacharya at No. 2, 6-2, 6-3, and Frederic Cadieux rallied at No. 3 to defeat Tommy Marx, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3.

NIU last lost consecutive matches March 4 and 9, 2012 when it lost at Wisconsin, 6-1, and to No. 63 Brown, 5-2, at Boylan Tennis Center.

Northern Illinois will return to action Friday when it plays at Marquette, followed by the Huskies spring break trip to Florida to take on Stetson, Appalachian State and Army.
