Muncie, Ind. - Northern Illinois Alex Friesen (Vancouver, B.C. / Burnaby Central) may have been the only Huskie competing at the final day of the 29th Annual Ball State Men's Tennis Invitational, but the senior made the most of his opportunity, as he defeated Ball State's Jose Perdomo, 7-6, 1-6, 10-8 to claim the A-Flight Consolation Title at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center on Sunday morning.

"Alex did a good job of what we've been talking about for the past couple days," NIU head men's tennis coach Pontius Hiort said. "He capitalized on his opportunities, played aggressively and put his opponent under pressure.

"He made good shots at good times in the match."

NIU will be back in action on Friday, September 21,, as they will participate in the Drake Invitational.
