COLUMBUS, Ohio - Northern Illinois finished the ITA Midwest Regional today with a pair of main draw matches in the Round of 32 in singles and doubles at the prestigious tournament at Ohio State today. Axel Lagerlof fell in his match, and the duo of Maksym Bartiuk and Roman Turtygin fell in doubles.

"It was a good tournament for us," said Head Coach Pat Fisher, "Our program left a footprint here at the ITA Regional and we're looking forward to making more here in the future.

In doubles, Bartiuk and Turtygin took on No. 12 seed Kevin Metka and Steven Williams of Ohio State, who advanced yesterday after defeating a doubles team from Western Michigan. The Huskie duo gave their best effort against the Buckeye pair, but fell 8-1.

Lagerlof was the lone NIU participant remaining in the singles main draw, facing Illinois' Stephen Hoh, the tournaments No. 15 seed. The two battled throughout the match, with Hoh building leads over Lagerlof in the first set, but the Malmo, Sweden would eventually draw closer to Hoh, but fell 6-4 in the first set. In the second set, Hoh built a 4-1 lead, but Lagerlof squared the match, 4-4, before Hoh won the set and the match 6-4.

Other Huskies participated in consolation matches and finished 2-1 in those matches, with Turtygin winning over Cleveland State's Jay Jones, 6-1, 6-1, and Max Phiilips defeating Youngstown State's Max Schmerin, 6-3, 6-4.
