EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Northern Illinois men's tennis team went 0-3 in the main doubles draw Friday afternoon in day two of the ITA Midwest Regional. The Huskies will move forward with only singles play remaining for them this weekend.
"We got some tough draws in doubles as we played two seeded pairs today," said Head Coach Patrick Fisher, "obviously we feel there's a lot we need to improve on there. We have played very well in doubles this fall, we just didn't get the results we were looking for."
The duo of Dor Amir and Frederic Cadieux took on Michigan State's Denis Bogatov and Harry Jadun, the tournament's No. 15 seed, battling the duo in the match but falling, 8-5, to wrap up their doubles tournament. Axel Lagerlof and Simon Formont met No. 7 duo Connor Smith and Hunter Callahan of Ohio State and fell 8-3 in the contest. The final Huskie pair of Max Phillips and Jovan Zeljkovic were also unable to advance as they fell to Michigan's Alex Petrone and Michael Zhu, 8-4.
