HUSKIE MEN'S TENNIS CLAIMS FIRST MAC WIN OF THE YEAR WITH 6-1 VICTORY
AURORA, IL - What better way to make up for a disappointing loss than
to get right back on the court for a chance at redemption? The Northern
Illinois University men's tennis team took full advantage of that chance,
claiming a 6-1 victory over the University at Buffalo here Sunday (April
7), one day after dropping a tough match to Mid-American Conference favorites
Ball State University on Saturday. The win was the first league victory
for Northern Illinois and upped its overall season record to 10-7.
"We played pretty
well today, especially at the top of the lineup," NIU head coach
Steven Rodecap mentioned. "It's nice to get back in the win column
after a tough loss like yesterday."

NIU's David Pickel (Highland Park) kept pace with van Wasbeek for the
team-lead in victories, posting his fifteenth of the season with a 6-0,
6-1, defeat of Josh Liederman. Senior Tim Freesen (Jacksonville) took
advantage at his chance in the lineup with a 6-4, 6-2, triumph in No.

much more relaxed today and that really helped," added Rodecap. "We
didn't get bothered by the little things out there and we just played
