DeKALB, Ill. - Men's tennis will be back at home this weekend. The Huskies are set to face the Toledo Rockets (9-15, 2-0 MAC) on Saturday, April 12. The teams will face off on the outdoor courts at NIU at 1:00 p.m.
NIU last played at UIC on Tuesday, April 8. The teams skipped doubles play in the affair and headed right for singles. The Huskies picked up their fifth win in a row against the Flames, taking the match 4-0. The victory improved NIU's record to 16-5. It was the last non-conference match on the schedule for the team this spring.
Axel Lagerlof and Dor Amir once again find themselves ranked among the elite doubles teams in the nation. In the latest ITA rankings, Amir and Lagerlof came in at No. 83. The tandem has been outstanding this spring, going 16-2. They've played all but one of NIU's No. 1 doubles matches.
Toledo has had a strong start to MAC play, winning matches against Buffalo and Ball State thus far. The Rockets have won four in a row overall coming into the match at NIU. Mark Stingnil has been a top performer on the Rockets this season. He is currently 14-3 in No. 1 singles matches.
The Huskies have just one more match remaining after this one against Toledo. On Friday, April 18, they'll host Buffalo for a match at 1:00 p.m. The MAC Championship Tournament is just two weeks away. It will begin on Friday, April 25 in Muncie, Ind.
