NIU is Headed to River Forest to Play in the River Forest Invitational

The Huskies are headed to Chicago for the first tennis event of the season. They're set to compete against several other teams at the River Forest Tennis Club, starting on Friday, September 13 and lasting through the weekend. NIU will look to have start a strong fall season before ultimately ending the fall with the ITA Regional.

Eight teams will be competing, including NIU, Butler, Belmont, Morhead State, St Louis, University of Illinois at Chicago, Valparaiso, and Youngstown State. The action is slated to start tomorrow at 9 a.m. and last all day.

The River Forest Tennis Club was founded in 1905. It was the venue of the U.S. National Clay Court Championships 20 times between 1936 and 1965. Notable athletes who have played at these courts include Arthur Ashe and Jimmy Conors.

The next tournament for the Huskies will be the Drake Invitational. That will be hosted by Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, starting on Friday, September 20.
