Day Two Doubles Recap

EAST LANSING, Mich.
- Huskie sophomore Dor Amir won his first round match in the main draw of the ITA Midwest Regional Friday night to become the second Huskie in as many years to advance to the second round of the tournament.

"It's great to have our guys do so well here," said Head coach Patrick Fisher, "it really shows how strong our program has gotten over the last three seasons. Dor did what he needed to do advance."

Amir, a native of Israel, squared off against Illinois' Julian Childers in the opening round of 32. Childers had qualified for the tournament out of the qualifying draw earlier in the day to face Amir. The two battled in the contest, playing neck-in-neck but Amir triumphed by a final score of, 7-6, 6-4. He will face the home court favorite Gijs Linders of Michigan State.

Junior Axel Lagerlof also played in the first round of 32 in the main draw, facing Constantin Christ from Ohio State. Christ took the match with 6-1, 6-1 score to advance to the round of 16, ending Lagerlof's tournament.

Senior Max Phillips started the day for NIU in the final of the qualifying draw for a chance to advance to the main draw, but was unable to get out of qualifying as he fell to Notre Dame's Mike Moore, 6-1, 6-1.

Amir will return to the court tomorrow for day three of the ITA Midwest Regional.
