DeKALB, Ill. - The Northern Illinois men's tennis team will be adding Kevin Daun (Vasteras, Swedeb/Widenska Gymnasiet-Idrottscollege) for the 2014-15 season. Daun will be an addition to an already primarily international team, as all but one Huskie (Matt Lynch) hail from nations other than the United States. With the team set to lose Jovan Zeljkovic and Axel Lagerlof after the 2013-14 season, the men's tennis team foreseeably sits at six total players for the beginning of the 2014-15 season.
Among tennis players at or under the age of 18 in Sweden, Daun is ranked #13 overall. He is a member of the International Tennis Federation Juniors U18, which has allowed him to play all over Europe during his young career.
In singles play, Daun has made four Round of 16 appearances, including performances at Varnamo, Sweden, Odense, Denmark, Stabekk, Norway, and the ALK Open in Kaarina, Finland. As for doubles, Daun claimed a tournament victory in the San Michael International Tournament, held on the island of Malta in March of 2012. He was also a runner-up in Varnamo, Sweden, and made it to the quarter-finals in Kramfors, Sweden and Stabekk, Norway.
To show off his skills, Daun created a video, featuring his play on a clay court. Click here to get look at Daun's playing style. For more on Daun, check out his profile on TennisRecruiting.net.
