Dieckhaus looks to improve on last season's MAC title, return to NCAA Championships

After a highly successful 2010-11 season, senior Brad Dieckhaus enters this season looking to defend his MAC championship at 184 lbs. and return to the NCAA Championships, which will be held in his hometown of St. Louis. We caught up with Brad to check in on his preseason training, his outlook on this year's Huskie squad and his expectations for the season.

2010-11: Finished the season with a record of 15-8, including a 10-5 dual match record and a team best 4-1 record in the MAC while wrestling at 184... won one match at the NCAA Championships, defeating Iowa State's Richard Shafer 11-2... qualified for the NCAA Championships by going unbeaten at the MAC Championships, placing first and solidifying a bid by defeating Kent State's Casey Newburg 3-2 in the Championship match... placed second at the Michigan State Open... recorded two victories by pin fall.

2009-10: Redshirt

2008-09: Earned three decisions and two pins throughout the season ... placed fourth in the MAC Championships ... earned victories over Iowa's Grant Gambrall and Wisconsin's Eric Bugenhagen in the Midlands Championships ... won seven matches.

2007-08: Finished the season with 10 wins, including six pins and five major decisions... took fourth place at the Jim Fox Open in his first tournament as a Huskie... took three of his four wins by fall at that tournament... pinned his first opponent, and won by major decision en route to placing second at the "Flash" Flanagan Open... made his first start in dual competition at 185 pounds against Buffalo... earned major decision wins in dual meets versus Liberty, Cleveland State and Gardner-Webb.

High School: Named second team all-state as a senior after placing second in the state championships at 160 pounds... captained his team to an 18-0 dual meet record during his senior campaign... earned First Team All-Gateway Conference honors after his senior season... posted a 3-2 record at Senior Nationals... awarded the Silver Shield of Excellence Award for academic achievement... finished high school career with a 114-21 record.
