DeKALB, Ill. - The Northern Illinois University wrestling team gets back into Mid-American Conference action Friday night when they face the Ohio Bobcats.

The meet is slated to start at 6 p.m. CT inside Ohio's Convocation Center. Heading into the dual, both teams are looking for their first conference win of the year.

"Ohio has a really strong lineup with a lot of talented individuals," said NIU head coach Ryan Ludwig. "However, where there is challenge, there is opportunity and we are looking forward to pulling our straps up Friday night. The guys have been training through break and it will be nice to get out and compete again."

NIU will look to build momentum in 2014 after a convincing 33-15 victory over the SIU Edwardsville Cougars last Saturday. Matt Mougin, Shawn Scott, Jared Torrence, Nick Harrison, Rob Jillard, Andrew Morse and Shaun'Qae McMurtry all earned wins in the dual, while Morse's pin marked his eighth bonus-point victory this year.

Ohio comes into Friday with a 4-1 overall record, but a 0-1 mark in the MAC following a 23-10 loss at Missouri Dec. 10. The Bobcats, though, have had plenty of success in tournament action, placing fourth at the Reno Tournament of Champions, sixth at the Navy Classic and 15th at the Southern Scuffle. Ohio is also receiving votes in the NWCA/USA Today Coaches Poll, where they sit just outside the poll at 26th.

Live results will be available on TrackWrestling.com.

Scouting Ohio
Ohio enters the weekend with a 4-1 dual record overall. In the MAC, they hold a 0-1 mark following a 23-10 loss at Missouri on Dec. 10. However, the Bobcats have had plenty of success in national tournaments this year, as they placed fourth at the Reno Tournament of Champions, sixth at the Navy Classic and 15th at the Southern Scuffle. Ohio also returned all five of their NCAA qualifiers from the 2013 national tournament, as their starting lineup features KeVon Powell (125), Spartak Chino (157), Cody Walters (174), Phil Wellington (197) and Jeremy Johnson (285). The all-time series between the two schools is tied at 10-10-1, but the Bobcats have taken the last five meetings.

The Big 50
NIU redshirt seniors Matt Mougin and Jared Torrence are both two wins away from reaching the 50-win mark in their careers. Mougin maintains a 48-56 mark in his time with the Huskies, while Torrence is 48-40 in the Cardinal and Black. Earlier this season, senior Nick Smith earned his 50th career victory with an 8-4 decision against Clarion's Sam Sherlock at the EMU Duals on Nov. 16.

Better Late Than Never
With Friday's dual against Ohio, it will be the first true away dual for the Huskies in the 2013-14 season. Though they have had four duals take place outside of DeKalb, none of them have been against the host school. All of those came in the EMU Duals, when NIU took on Michigan, Oregon State, Clarion and Findlay.

Also In Action
While the starters will be in Ohio, NIU's redshirt wrestlers will be heading to Dubuque, Iowa, this weekend, where they will compete in Loras College's "Flash" Flanagan Open. The tournament starts Saturday at 9:30 a.m. Fans can follow along with the action on TrackWrestling.com.

Up Next...
The Huskies continue on their road trip next weekend with three duals. Friday night, they head to Ypsilanti, Mich., to face the Eastern Michigan Eagles in a 6 p.m. CT MAC match. Two days later, they head to Ohio to face Ashland and Purdue in the Wendy's Duals.
