DeKalb, Ill. - The Mid American Conference announced Tuesday that Northern Illinois sophomore Bryan O'Connor (Carol Stream, Ill. /Glenbard North) has been named to the 2009 Academic All-MAC Wrestling Team.

"We are very proud to see Bryan excel both on the mat and in the classroom," said head coach Dave Grant.

O'Connor, a physical therapy major, has posted a 3.489 cumulative grade point average. He went 3-3 in dual meets this season, recording one win by pin. O'Connor finished the season with a 3-1 decision victory, to end the year with a record of 6-6 at 165 pounds.

The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.2 cumulative GPA. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award.
