Former NIU Gymnasts Invited to MAC Championships

DeKALB, Ill. - The Northern Illinois women's gymnastics team invites all former gymnasts back to campus on Saturday, March 24 for the 2012 Huskie Gymnastics Alumnae Weekend which will be held during the 2012 Mid-American Conference Gymnastics Championships at the NIU Convocation Center. Re-connect with former teammates, meet fellow gymnastics alumna and current Northern Illinois administrators, and cheer on the 2012 Huskies - led by former NIU gymnasts Sam Morreale (1984-87) and Nita (Doty) Teague (1980-84) - as they welcome all six MAC gymnastics teams to DeKalb for an exciting afternoon of college gymnastics. Alumnae are invited to enjoy a pre-meet social hour in the Nelson Suite of the Convocation Center beginning at 1 p.m., where snacks and drinks will be served. The MAC Championships begin at 2 p.m. on the floor of the arena. In addition to admission to the meet, alumnae will receive free parking. After entering at Gate 2, alums will check in and be directed to the Nelson Suite. "Our alumnae are an important part of our Huskie family," Morreale said. "A year ago we had a record number of our former gymnasts return for the State Championship meet, and we hope to see even more of our gymnastics alums and their families at the MAC Championships on March 24. It's important for our current team members to see and get to know those who paved the way for them."
