2007 ALUMNAE GAME HIGHLIGHTS: Former Northern Illinois District All-America frontcourt star Tammy Hinchee turned back the clock and led all scorers and rebounders with a 23-point, 14-board "double double" performance in leading the Cardinal to a 58-51 triumph over the Black alums on January 20, 2007. The 6-foot-2 Hinchee wouldn't let her team lose---dominating the paint, plus dropping several 17-foot jump shots from the perimeter. Hinchee---the Huskies' No. 3 all-time career scorer with 1,921 career points (1986-90) and a member of the Hall of Fame 1989-90 Northern Illinois quintet---tallied 14 points in the first half and pushed the Cardinal to a 36-30 lead at intermission. "Tammy Hinchee is still the best," said backcourt alum Denise Robinson who contributed four points. "She is still an intense competitor aind brings out the competitiveness in all of us." Ex-Huskie All-America picks Lisa Foss and E. C. Hill topped the Black alum scorers with 10 points apiece. Forward Jamie Wilson added 11 points and eight rebounds for the winners.

POINTS OF HUSKIE PRIDE: Celebrating NIU's Golden 50th Anniversary Season --- This winter Northern Illinois commemorates one of the oldest Division I women's basketball programs in the state. The modern era of Huskie women's hardwood competition started in 1957-58 under Hall of Fame head coach Mary Bell. The Modern Pioneers --- Mary Bell and Lou Jean Moyer will serve as the honorary head coaches in this Saturday's game. Considered the matriarch of Huskie women's athletics, Bell served as a head coach in six different sports during 1957-77---including women's basketball---and as director of the Women's Recreation Association. Her 1971-72 NIU quintet finished 15-3 and reached the Elite Eight at the national AIAW Tournament. In 1998, the Northern Illinois softball facility was named in her honor. Bell was also a charter member of the Northern Illinois Women's Athletics Hall of Fame (1986). Moyer also coached multiple Huskie female sports and produced a 74-33 won-lost record as head women's volleyball coach (1970-74).

POINTS OF HUSKIE PRIDE, PART II: How many Division I Alumnae Games can boast of two WNBA players? --- Northern Illinois, that's who. Hall of Famer and current Huskie assistant coach E. C. Hill---No. 7 all-time Huskie scorer with 1,638 career points---played for the WNBA Charlotte Sting in 2000-01. Of course, student coach Stepfanie Raymond---the No. 5 NIU point-producer with 1,719 career markers---is finishing her physical education degree at NIU after becoming the program's first WNBA pick (20th overall selection in 2007 draft) and playing with the Chicago Sky last summer. 1-3-5-7-12 Winning Combo --- The 2008 Alumnae Game roster features five of Northern Illinois' Top 12 career scorers---Foss (No. 1 at 2,500 points), Hinchee at No. 3, Raymond at No. 5, Hill at No. 7, and Charmonique Stallworth (No. 12 at 1,415 points). Triple `Double-Doubles' --- Northern Illinois' 2006 Alumnae Game produced three double-double efforts, thanks to guard Amanda Reese (game-high 14 assists and 12 points), center Tammy Hinchee (12 points and 10 boards), plus center Tracy Mondek (14 points and 13 rebounds). Out of the Past --- Northern Illinois head coach Carol Owens and E. C. Hill participated in the first modern era Alumnae Game in 1999. `The Boss' --- Ex-Huskie director of athletics Cary Groth---now the AD at Nevada---also made a surprise appearance in the inaugural Alumnae Game and scoring from the charity stripe in 1999.

LAST-SECOND RSVPs: Former Northern Illinois players can still participate in the 2008 Alumnae Day festivities by contacting Ceceilia Bolles, director of basketball operations, via telephone (815-753-0586) or e-mail
