DeKALB, Ill. - This Saturday's Mid-American Conference women's basketball game between Buffalo and Northern Illinois in Buffalo, N.Y. will be televised locally by Comcast SportsNet Chicago, NIU Athletics and CSN Chicago officials announced Tuesday. The game, which tips off at 11 a.m. (Central Time) from UB's Alumni Arena on Saturday, Feb. 12, is part of the MAC basketball television package and will be produced by SportsTime Ohio.
Comcast SportsNet Chicago, a long-time television partner of the Huskies, will carry the game to millions of homes in Illinois, Iowa, northwestern Indiana and southern Wisconsin, allowing NIU fans throughout the region to watch the MAC match-up between the Huskies (9-14, 3-7 MAC) of first-year head coach Kathi Bennett and the Bulls (12-10, 5-4 entering Tuesday night's game versus Western Michigan). In the last meeting between the teams, NIU prevailed 93-88 in overtime behind 36 points from point guard Marke Freeman last January.
Northern Illinois' last televised game - a 75-65 victory over Loyola that was carried on Lakeshore Public Television - also went to overtime
The NIU-Buffalo contest also will air on SportsTime Ohio throughout the northern Ohio region and on DirecTV (channel 662) and Dish Network (channel 431) in Buffalo. Mike Cairns will call the game with Jacki Windon providing analysis.
The Huskies return home on Wednesday, Feb. 16 to face MAC West foe Central Michigan in one of the team's two remaining regular season home games. That game tips off at 7 p.m. from the NIU Convocation Center with tickets available at the door or online at www.NIUHuskies.com.
