DEKALB, Ill.-The Northern Illinois University women's basketball team wraps up the home portion of the 2007-08 season when the Huskies play host to Ohio University Monday night in the Convocation Center.
NIU (10-15, 6-6) looks to bounce back from a disappointing 64-57 loss to Eastern Michigan Saturday afternoon. Monday's game was originally scheduled for February16th, but was rescheduled for Monday after the tragic events of February 14th. NIU has posted an 8-3 mark at home this season and are 25-12 in the Convocation Center under Carol Owens. The Ohio game marks the end of four straight home games for the Huskies.
Ohio (16-11, 9-5) comes into the Convocation Center having split its last six games. The Bobcats are in the middle of three-game road trip that began at Kent State Saturday. The Bobcats escaped with a 69-68 victory. Ohio concludes its road trip in Oxford, Ohio when it takes on Miami (OH).
The Bobcats own a 12-11 advantage in the all-time series between the two schools and has won the last three meetings. The Bobcats edged the Huskies in a close contest 72-70 in Athens last year. The Huskies last victory came in 2004, when they defeated the visiting Bobcats 78-71 at the Convocation Center. The Huskies are 5-5 against the Bobcats at home.
Whitney Lowe (Bushnell, Ill./Prairie City) continues her strong play in the MAC. The senior forward is averaging 16 points a game in conference action and 10.6 for the season. She is the Huskies leading scorer, averaging 11.3 points a game and has scored in double digits in 11 of her last 12 games. Kylie York Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) and Jessie Wilcox (Oshkosh, Wis./West) average in double figures, with York scoring 10.6 points a game and Wilcox adding 10.4.
Lauren Kohn is the lone Bobcat averaging in double figures with 16.1 points a game. She also grabs 5.9 rebounds a game. Chandra Myers leads Ohio in rebounding, grabbing 6.4 boards a game and adds 7.9 points a game.
