DeKalb, IL -- For the Northern Illinois University women's basketball team (11-16 overall and 7-9 in the loop), the 2006 Mid-American Conference Postseason Tournament begins at the Convocation Center with a Saturday 7:05 p.m. contest against MAC East Division No. 5 finisher Miami (OH) University.

The Huskies gained the MAC West Division's No. 4 slot thanks to a tiebreaker advantage over Central Michigan University, which also finished 7-9 in league play after losing Wednesday night's regular-season finale at Eastern Michigan University.

Saturday's other first-round games are as follows: East No. 6 University of Akron (5-22 / 2-14) at West No. 3 Ball State University (16-11 / 9-7) at 1 p.m. (CST). West No. 6 University of Toledo (9-17 / 4-12) also has a 1 p.m. (CST) contest at East No. 3 University at Buffalo (10-17 / 5-11). West No. 5 finisher Central Michigan (16-11 / 7-9) is at East No. 4 Ohio University (8-19 / 5-11) in a 3:30 p.m. (CST) contest.

West Division champ Eastern Michigan University (21-6 / 15-1) has Wednesday's (March 8) 12 p.m. (CST) quarterfinal opener against the winner of OU/CMU. East runner-up Kent State University (19-8 / 12-4) has the 2 p.m. (CST) contest with the winner of BSU/UA. The NIU/Miami victor has a 4:30 p.m. (CST) date with East champion Bowling Green State University (25-2 / 16-0). The final 6:30 p.m. quarterfinal pits West runner-up Western Michigan University (14-13 / 11-5) against the UB/UT winner. Friday's (March 10) semifinals are slated for 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. (CST) while Saturday's (March 11) title match is at noon Central time.
