DeKalb, IL -- Led by Second-Team All-Mid-American Conference guard Stephanie Raymond and Honorable Mention All-MAC pick Kristen Wiener, the Northern Illinois University women's basketball team hopes to spring a surprise in Wednesday's 4:30 p.m. (CST) quarterfinal against Bowling Green State University.

BGSU's Falcons -- ranked 24th in the latest ESPN / USA Today women's poll -- is the MAC tourney favorite having gone undefeated in order to win the East Division title and also the Mid-Am regular-season crown. Bowling Green, boasting four honorees on the All-MAC unit, is on a 16-game win streak and enters the contest with a stellar 25-2 ledger.

Northern Illinois, which defeated Miami (Ohio) University 73-65 in a Saturday first-round game played in DeKalb, stands 12-16 under first-year coach Carol Owens who has guided NIU back into the tournament for the first time in four seasons.
