CHICAGO-- Former Northern Illinois University guard Stephanie Raymond earned a spot on the Chicago Sky's final roster. Raymond was selected No. 20 overall by the Chicago Sky in the 2007 WNBA Draft and is the first-ever Huskie drafted by the WNBA. The Sky opens their home schedule against the Los Angeles Sparks Tuesday, May 22 at the UIC Pavilion.
Raymond led the Huskies in scoring this season, averaging 18.9 points and 6.5 assists a game. She started the season No. 17 on the Huskies all-time leading scorer's list, and finished fifth with 1,719 points. She set the Huskie record for assists in a season with 201 and leaves NIU as the Huskies single-season (90.1) and career leader (83.9) in free throw percentage.
The native of Rockford, Ill. was named to the Kraft MAC All-Tournament Team at the 2007 Kraft MAC Women's Basketball Tournament Mar. 4-10 after averaging 20 points a game in the tournament and was named Most Valuable Player of the Mildred and Roger L. White Tournament at Northwestern. She posted 30-point games against Bradley, Kansas and Toledo and earned MAC Player of the Week honors three times in 2006-07.
