DEKALB, Ill.-Northern Illinois University head coach Carol Owens announces the addition of Sarah Rogers (Chicago, Ill./John Marshall) to the 2008-09 NIU women's basketball team.

"We're really excited it worked out for Sarah to join the Huskie family," NIU head coach Carol Owens. "She's a great kid. We're looking forward to working with her. She helped Marshall win a state championship last year. She played an integral part in that team's success and she knows what it takes to play at a high level."

Last season, Rogers helped lead the Commandos to a 26-7 record and the 2008 IHSA 3A state championship. The Commandos defeated Freeport, 58-47, with Rogers leading all scorers with 18 points and grabbing a game-high 11 rebounds. During her senior year, the 5-8 guard scored 398 points, averaged 12.1 points a game, and grabbed 242 rebounds. She had six double-doubles during in the 2007-08 season, and scored a season-high 30 points in a 68-53 victory over Whitney Young.

Rogers joins Courtney Shelton (Rockton, Ill./Hononegah) and Tenisha Wilson (Chicago, Ill./Chicago Bogan Technical) as part of the 2007-08 recruiting class.
