NORTHERN ILLINOIS WOMEN’S BASKETBALL TEAM HOSTS FUTURE HUSKIE CLINIC ON NOVEMBER 16

DeKALB, IL---For most basketball fans, next Saturday (Nov. 16) provides a sneak preview of the Northern Illinois University women’s basketball team in action as the Huskies meet Gee’s Clippers in an exhibition game. Younger NIU followers can look even further in the future that morning by taking part in the annual Future Huskie Clinic at the Convocation Center.

The clinic begins at 10 a.m., with veteran head coach Carol Hammerle and her team offering instruction for 90 minutes. At 11:30, the Northern Illinois women’s basketball team gives a 15-minute demonstration followed by a question-and-answer session with clinic attendees. Lunch is included, along with fun and games before the Huskies’ 2:05 p.m. exhibition contest.

For $10, campers receive a Future Huskie t-shirt along with a Northern Illinois women’s basketball media guide, schedule card and the opportunity to serve as a ballperson and sit on the bench with the Huskies during home games. “Future Huskies” can watch NIU throughout the 2002-03 schedule for free by wearing the t-shirt to regular-season home dates.

The clinic is available to boys and girls aged 13 and under. A parent permission release and health form must be completed before the clinic begins, and can be obtained through the NIU women’s basketball office. To register for the Future Huskie Clinic, contact Stacy Krueger at (815) 753-0586.
